Caboolture SS - Newsletter Term 3 Week 4
Principal's News
As we approach the half way point of term 3, it's a great time to re-visit home routines and rules, to ensure everyone is tracking nicely and on the same page. When children feel a sense of control over what they are doing, they are more likely to take on new challenges. When children are encouraged by their parents, they often feel they can achieve their goals, they feel good about themselves, which benefits their confidence. This helps them track their learning and progress. Children’s confidence can vary depending on what they are doing and how they are feeling. Children are often more motivated to do some activities more than others, this is okay. We as educators know this and can adapt our teaching styles to help motivate children in different areas of schooling, so they reach their goals. You as parents can also support your children to feel motivated in different areas by:
- Providing an inviting and safe environment.
- Scaffolding your child’s learning and gradually reducing involvement over time.
- Asking your children questions, talking them through activities like homework, and praising their efforts also helps them stay motivated.
- If you have more than one child, remember they can be motivators for each other.

Teachers have also spent time this week reminding students of rules and expectations in the classroom.
2026 prep enrolments
Caboolture SS is now taking enrolments for Prep students who will begin school in 2026. Prep is the first year of school and provides the foundation for your child's education. It is compulsory for Queensland children to undertake Prep prior to Year 1. Children must be 5 by 30 June in the year they enrol. Students born between 1 July 2020 and 30 June 2021 are eligible to enrol in Prep 2026. Please contact administration to make an appointment to enrol.
School Opinion Surveys
Parents are asked to assist the school in completing the online survey by Friday 22 August. Thank you to those parents who have already completed the survey. Later in the year, the school will receive a report outlining the results of the survey for our school. The results will assist the school to evaluate and reflect on how well the school is going, and to identify areas for future development.
Save the Date – Parent/Teacher Interviews
This term we will again be offering Parent/Teacher Interviews. Interviews will be held during Week 8. This is a great opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher to check in and discuss learning. Strong partnerships between home and school will only strengthen the learning for our students. We hope to see as many parents there as possible. The access website and codes for booking will be available in the next newsletter.
Term 3 Reminders
Before school
- Students are asked not to arrive at school prior to 8.15am.

After school
- Parents and students should exit the school after the end of day bell has rung.

Deputy Principal's News

The Welcome Circle is how all students at Caboolture State School start each day. Our classes follow these processes to help build a predictable routine each morning that contributes to a safe and orderly learning environment. If you'd like to read and learn more about the Welcome Circle, which is grounded in research and the Berry Street Education Model, there is more information at the link below. We are incredibly grateful for family support and involvement in reinforcing positive habits.
In addition to this, we require some support from families to address quite a serious issue. Recently, we have seen an increase in students using racist language. This is completely unacceptable, and we are working hard at school to educate students about inclusivity and respect. We urge families to have open and honest conversations with children about the harmful impact of racist language. By working together, we can ensure a safe and respectful learning environment for all students and staff. We thank you for your support with this. We've attached a link below with some tips for parents when discussing this topic with children

BOOK WEEK 2025
We are excited to be having our Book Week Parade in Week 6. Please join in the fun and dress up as your favourite book character. All parents are welcome to come to the Parade in the hall from 9am Thursday 21st August.

YEAR 6 MARKET DAY
This term, students in Year 6 are busy planning, budgeting, making and marketing products for a market stall. This event will support their learning in HASS: Economics and Business.
On Wednesday 10th September (Week 9), Year 6 will hold their very first Market Day. Products will be available for students from across the school to purchase, with each class having a session to purchase. Profits from the Market Day will go towards Year 6's Big Day Out at the end of the year.
Look out for each stall's poster, social media advertisements and 'radio' announcements over the loudspeaker at school.
YEAR 1 PHONICS CHECK
In the second half of Year 1, students undergo the Year 1 Phonics Check. All students participate in this check.
In Year 1 your child’s teacher is able to use the quick and easy Phonics Check to better understand the phonics knowledge of their students. The Check looks at how well your child can 'decode' written words. The teacher will listen to how the child sounds out the letter and letter groups and how they blend these sounds together from left to right to make words.
The Phonics Check helps your child's teacher and the school to confirm whether your child is making their expected progress in reading. Teachers and schools can then use this information to inform their teaching program.
Parents of Year 1 students will be receiving a permission note to sign if you wish your child to complete the check via online delivery. Please return the form by Friday August 22nd 2025 to your class teacher. Please see the letter for more information.

Supporting Regulation
We have been working closely with the EQ therapy team to develop a Regulation Break Program to support our learners in P to 2. This week, all four classes participated in the program, and staff were trained in using this resource.
Regulatory breaks provide essential opportunities for children to reset, regulate their emotions, and maintain focus throughout the day. These short, structured breaks support self-regulation by allowing children to move their bodies, engage in calming activities, or take a sensory pause—helping to reduce stress and prevent emotional overwhelm. For students with additional needs, such as ADHD, autism, or anxiety, regulatory breaks are particularly beneficial in supporting sustained engagement, positive behaviour, and readiness to learn. By incorporating these breaks into our daily routines, we can create a more inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
Additionally, we have been exploring activities to help regulate when students become frustrated or overwhelmed. We are trialling breathing activities, Cosmic Kids 'Peace Out' and calming music. See the link below to see the guided meditations for sleep and calm from Cosmic Kids.

Parking Regulations - To Ensure the Safety of Students, Parents, Caregivers, Teachers, and other members of the community.
With Term 3 here, I wanted to take the opportunity to communicate that to successfully achieve the desired outcome of a safe school community, the City of Moreton Bay provides regulated parking education prior to and during the commencement of each school term. This includes identifying risk levels tailored to each school’s unique circumstance.
Regulated parking patrols will commence at programmed schools, targeting pick up and drop off timeframes to ensure vehicles are parked lawfully.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The City of Moreton Bay regulates parking or stopping of vehicles on footpaths, bicycle paths, shared paths, dividing strips or nature strips. Please note that vehicles that are parked with two wheels on the footpath/nature strip and two wheels on the road is not considered as a lawful parking practice.
Council is legally obliged to enforce these regulations, and our Proactive School Safety Patrol Program contributes to this enforcement.
During Proactive School Safety Patrols, enforcement of unlawful parking is applied by obtaining photographic evidence and issuing a penalty infringement notice.
Council prefers that vehicle drivers are educated.
For more information in relation to parking regulation and expectation please see attached our Parking in School Zones Fact Sheet. Additionally, we recommend reviewing the City of Moreton Bay’s published material regarding parking Parking - City of Moreton Bay
